That’s why we called it that.

MEET THE FOUNDER
MEET THE FOUNDER
Hi! I’m Mason, the founder of Waymaker.
Who I Am
Entreprenuer: I started my first business (on accident) when I was 18. I sold it two years later.
Writer: I write every day, poetry, essays, letters, and more.
Montanan: I grew up in Bozeman, Montana. Now I live in Georgia.
Why I Did This
The world needs this. Young people have never felt lost. Now more than ever, they need to be reminded that they are capable of building futures they are excited about.
I want to help people. I started Waymaker because I had been doing mentorship already, but wanted to expand my reach. I want to change the world.
This works. I’ve used the Waymaker process over and over again in my life. Even before I knew it, it was changing my life.
Why Me?
I’ve always made my own way. I charged for magic shows when I was 7. I set up lemonade stands when I was 8. Launched a school-wide fundraiser when I was 10. Started a non-profit when I was 16. A business when I was 18. Another when I was 19. Self published 2 books at 20. You get the point.
I’m a mentor. I’ve been a camp counselor, public speaking coach, consultant, debate coach, teacher, and non-profit exec. All together, I’ve mentored over 500 people. There’s nothing I’d rather do.
I’m technically certified. I’m a certified life coach, business coach, and I’m an Adjunct Lecturer at Brown University (my alma mater). It’s not just what I love to do, I’m a certified professional!

Waymaker’s Services
1:1 Mentorship
Our signature experience pairs each student with a dedicated mentor for weekly one-on-one coaching and personalized guidance. Together, they design, build, and launch a project that showcases the student’s unique passions and talents. Along the way, they meet with real-world experts, learn project management and leadership skills, and gain the confidence to bring big ideas to life.
First two sessions are completely free.
After-School Cohort
The Cohort program brings a small group of motivated students together to collaborate, learn, and create in a supportive environment. Through guided sessions, individual checkpoints, and structured build sprints, each student develops their own project while learning from peers on similar journeys. It’s the perfect balance of independence and community.
Single-Day Workshops
These high-energy, hands-on sessions give students a taste of the Waymaker experience in just one day. Through engaging exercises in creativity, goal-setting, and project design, participants leave inspired—with a clear sense of their passions and the confidence to take the first step toward something real.
FAQs
How is this different from tutoring?
Waymakers isn’t about grades or homework help—it’s about helping students discover who they are and what they’re capable of. Instead of working on school assignments, students design and launch real-world projects that reflect their passions. Our mentors guide them through every step of the process, building confidence, creativity, and life skills that last far beyond the classroom.
How much time per week does it take?
It depends on the project. But across the board, the more times Waymakers can devote, the better their outcome will be. Mentorship is 1 hour a week. Roughly 2 hours of other work will be required a week.
What if my child changes ideas mid-program?
That’s part of the process! We actually expect and encourage pivots. Discovering what doesn’t fit is an essential part of self-discovery and creative growth. Mentors help students reflect on what’s shifting and guide them toward refining or evolving their ideas while keeping momentum and confidence strong.
What’s WayMadeDay?
WayMadeDay is our signature celebration—a showcase where students present their finished projects to family, friends, and the community. It’s a moment of pride, reflection, and joy. Students share what they built, what they learned, and how they’ve grown. It’s less about perfection and more about progress—the proof that they’ve made their own way.
Do you work with neurodiverse students?
Yes. Many successful entrepreneurs, artists, and creators are neurodiverse. We tailor mentorship to each student’s learning style, communication preferences, and pace. Our goal is to help every young person discover how they work best—and to celebrate their unique strengths along the way.
Do you offer scholarships?
Yes. We believe every young person deserves access to transformative mentorship, regardless of financial circumstance. A portion of our revenue is reserved for need-based scholarships. Families can indicate interest when applying, and we’ll follow up with options and next steps.
